Ideas To Help You With Planning Your Own Youth Conference

When you are a leader in the church, whether you are a pastor or priest or you work for the church in some other capacity, you may have decided that you would like to host a youth conference. Youth conferences are highly beneficial to those who host and those who participate. They can provide a great deal of inspiration, solace, spirituality, and more. However, if you have never hosted or planned a youth conference before, the prospect can seem daunting and difficult. Rather than panicking, get to know a few ideas to help you with planning your own youth conference. Then, you can get the process started as soon as possible.

Figure Out a Venue

One of the first things you will have to do when you are thinking about having a youth conference is to determine the venue you will be using. If you are going to advertise your youth conference widely, such as nationwide or even worldwide, you may not be able to host the conference in your physical church itself. It may just not be large enough.

As such, you will want to research venues well in advance of your projected youth conference date and select one that you think provides the appropriate size, price, and extras that will put your youth conference over the top. Be sure that your deposit on the venue is refundable for as long as possible leading up to the event as well, just in case something happens that would prevent your event from taking place at the planned place and time.

Choose Your Theme

Another big task to take on when you are planning your own youth conference is a theme. You want your theme to be broad enough to draw in a lot of young people but narrow enough to have focus and purpose.

Think about subjects that are relevant to young people like preparing for college, staying involved in the Church in high school and college, relationships, or even the hot-button topic of abortion. All of these subjects are relevant to and interesting to young people. You can narrow the focus further or have a wide range of speakers and mini-conferences within the youth conference to give young people as much information and inspiration as possible.

Put Together a Committee to Help You Make It Happen

You cannot do everything necessary to plan a big and successful youth conference on your own. You will need help. Put together a committee of people from your church and/or from surrounding churches to come together and plan this event.

These folks will help you come up with a budget (and fundraising ideas), transportation, marketing, and more for the event. That way, you will not be stretched too thin and your event will have built-in support behind it from the get-go.

Now that you have a few ideas of how to plan a youth conference, you can get the process started as soon as possible.
